This statement identifies the orthogonal complement of the closed unit-gradient kernel with the mean-zero subspace of L2L^2L2.

Let VVV be a finite-dimensional complete real inner product space with its Borel measurable structure and a second-countable topology. Assume:

  1. mmm is an additive Haar measure.
  2. ν\nuν is a log-concave probability measure with nonempty interior of its support.
  3. U:V→RU:V\to\mathbb RU:V→R is C2C^2C2 and ν=m.tilted⁡(−U)\nu=m.\operatorname{tilted}(-U)ν=m.tilted(−U) (Measure.tilted).

Let T=T=T= KLS.LogConcave.closedWeightedOperator for mmm and the identity weight. For every y∈L2(ν)y\in L^2(\nu)y∈L2(ν),

(∀k∈D(T), Tk=0 ⟹ ⟨y,k⟩L2(ν)=0)⟺mean⁡ν(y)=0.\left(\forall k\in D(T),\ Tk=0\ \Longrightarrow\ \langle y,k\rangle_{L^2(\nu)}=0\right) \quad\Longleftrightarrow\quad \operatorname{mean}_\nu(y)=0.(∀k∈D(T), Tk=0 ⟹ ⟨y,k⟩L2(ν)=0)⟺meanν(y)=0.

Here the mean is L2.mean. This connects the abstract kernel-orthogonality condition to centering in inverse and generator statements.

Formalization Note The vector yyy is arbitrary in L2(ν)L^2(\nu)L2(ν); it is not required to lie in the form domain D(T)D(T)D(T). No Poincaré or positive-curvature assumption is present.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
