This formalizes the integrated first-variation formula (42) in the proof of Theorem 2 of Cordero–Klartag (arXiv:1304.0630v1).

Let EEE be finite-dimensional with Borel structure, let qqq be proper and lower semicontinuous, and let ψ:E→R\psi:E\to\mathbb{R}ψ:E→R satisfy q∗(x)=ψ(x)q^*(x)=\psi(x)q∗(x)=ψ(x) for every xxx. Assume ψ\psiψ is LLL-Lipschitz for some L∈[0,∞)L\in[0,\infty)L∈[0,∞) and e−ψe^{-\psi}e−ψ is integrable with respect to Lebesgue measure. Let b:E→Rb:E\to\mathbb{R}b:E→R be continuous and suppose ∣b(z)∣≤M|b(z)|\le M∣b(z)∣≤M for some M∈RM\in\mathbb{R}M∈R and every zzz. Then

t⟼∫exp⁡ ⁣(−(q+tb)∗(x).toReal) dxt\longmapsto\int \exp\!\left(-\bigl(q+t b\bigr)^*(x).toReal\right)\,dxt⟼∫exp(−(q+tb)∗(x).toReal)dx

has derivative at 000 equal to

∫e−ψ(x) b(∇ψ(x)) dx.\int e^{-\psi(x)}\,b(\nabla\psi(x))\,dx.∫e−ψ(x)b(∇ψ(x))dx.

The gradient is the a.e. gradient represented by gradient; no stronger smoothness is asserted.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
