This statement constructs affine whitening maps that preserve convergence of moments through degree four.

Let EEE be a finite-dimensional real inner-product space with its Borel measurable structure. Let (λk)(λ_k)(λk) and μμμ be probability measures on EEE, and assume Isotropic μ. Fix R∈RR\in\mathbb RR∈R. Suppose:

  1. every λkλ_kλk and μμμ give measure zero to the complement of the closed ball B‾(0,R)\overline B(0,R)B(0,R);
  2. for every d≤4d\le4d≤4 and every v:Fin⁡(d)→Ev:\operatorname{Fin}(d)\to Ev:Fin(d)→E, the mixed moments of λkλ_kλk converge to those of μμμ.

Then there exist continuous linear equivalences Lk:E≃LEL_k:E\simeq_L ELk:E≃LE and centers ck∈Ec_k\in Eck∈E such that, for all sufficiently large kkk,

∫Lk(x−ck) dλk(x)=0,\int L_k(x-c_k)\,dλ_k(x)=0,∫Lk(x−ck)dλk(x)=0,

and, for every u,v∈Eu,v\in Eu,v∈E,

∫⟨u,Lk(x−ck)⟩⟨v,Lk(x−ck)⟩ dλk(x)=⟨u,v⟩.\int \langle u,L_k(x-c_k)\rangle\langle v,L_k(x-c_k)\rangle\,dλ_k(x)=\langle u,v\rangle.∫⟨u,Lk(x−ck)⟩⟨v,Lk(x−ck)⟩dλk(x)=⟨u,v⟩.

Moreover, the mixed moments of the transformed laws through degree four converge to the corresponding moments of μμμ. This is the affine whitening step in the regular approximation.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
