This statement computes products of coordinate observables under a finite product measure.

Let μ\muμ be a probability measure on EEE, and let f,g:E→Rf,g:E\to\mathbb Rf,g:E→R belong to L2(μ)L^2(\mu)L2(μ). For any N∈NN\in\mathbb NN∈N and i,j∈Fin⁡Ni,j\in\operatorname{Fin}Ni,j∈FinN, the product x↦f(xi)g(xj)x\mapsto f(x_i)g(x_j)x↦f(xi)g(xj) is integrable under μ⊗N\mu^{\otimes N}μ⊗N, and

∫f(xi)g(xj) dμ⊗N={∫f(x)g(x) dμ(x),i=j,(∫f dμ)(∫g dμ),i≠j.\int f(x_i)g(x_j)\,d\mu^{\otimes N} =\begin{cases} \displaystyle\int f(x)g(x)\,d\mu(x),&i=j,\\[6pt] \displaystyle\left(\int f\,d\mu\right)\left(\int g\,d\mu\right),&i\ne j. \end{cases}∫f(xi)g(xj)dμ⊗N=⎩⎨⎧∫f(x)g(x)dμ(x),(∫fdμ)(∫gdμ),i=j,i=j.

This is the coordinate-product identity underlying covariance and isotropy computations for independent copies.

Formalization Note. The two cases are represented by an if expression on the equality of the finite indices.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
