This lemma states an orthogonality identity for a normalized sum on a finite product probability space.

Let EEE be a measurable space, μ\muμ a probability measure on EEE, and f,g:E→Rf,g:E\to\mathbb Rf,g:E→R. Assume:

  1. f,g∈L2(μ)f,g\in L^2(\mu)f,g∈L2(μ), in the sense of MemLp.
  2. ∫f dμ=∫g dμ=0\int f\,d\mu=\int g\,d\mu=0∫fdμ=∫gdμ=0.
  3. ∫fg dμ=0\int fg\,d\mu=0∫fgdμ=0.

For every natural number N>0N>0N>0 and every i∈Fin⁡Ni\in\operatorname{Fin}Ni∈FinN, put ν=μ⊗N\nu=\mu^{\otimes N}ν=μ⊗N (Measure.pi) and FN(x)=N−1/2∑k∈Fin⁡Nf(xk)F_N(x)=N^{-1/2}\sum_{k\in\operatorname{Fin}N}f(x_k)FN(x)=N−1/2∑k∈FinNf(xk). Then

FN(x)g(xi)∈L1(ν),∫FN(x)g(xi) dν(x)=0.F_N(x)g(x_i)\in L^1(\nu),\qquad \int F_N(x)g(x_i)\,d\nu(x)=0.FN(x)g(xi)∈L1(ν),∫FN(x)g(xi)dν(x)=0.

The statement supplies both integrability and vanishing of the mixed moment for independent copies.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
