This statement evaluates the square integral of an affine function under centered identity-covariance moment assumptions.

Let n∈Nn\in\mathbb Nn∈N, E=E=E= EuclideanSpace ℝ (Fin n), and ej=e_j=ej= EuclideanSpace.basisFun (Fin n) ℝ j. Assume:

  1. μ\muμ is a probability measure and id⁡∈L2(μ)\operatorname{id}\in L^2(\mu)id∈L2(μ) (MemLp).
  2. ∫x dμ(x)=0\int x\,d\mu(x)=0∫xdμ(x)=0.
  3. For every u,v∈Eu,v\in Eu,v∈E, ∫⟨u,x⟩⟨v,x⟩ dμ(x)=⟨u,v⟩\int\langle u,x\rangle\langle v,x\rangle\,d\mu(x)=\langle u,v\rangle∫⟨u,x⟩⟨v,x⟩dμ(x)=⟨u,v⟩.

For every c∈Rc\in\mathbb Rc∈R and coefficient family a:Fin⁡(n)→Ra:\operatorname{Fin}(n)\to\mathbb Ra:Fin(n)→R,

∫(c+∑j∈Fin⁡(n)aj⟨ej,x⟩)2 dμ(x)=c2+∑j∈Fin⁡(n)aj2.\int\left(c+\sum_{j\in\operatorname{Fin}(n)}a_j\langle e_j,x\rangle\right)^2\,d\mu(x) =c^2+\sum_{j\in\operatorname{Fin}(n)}a_j^2.∫c+j∈Fin(n)∑aj⟨ej,x⟩2dμ(x)=c2+j∈Fin(n)∑aj2.

This identifies the L2L^2L2 square of the affine part with the Euclidean square of its coefficients. No log-concavity or positive-dimension assumption is needed.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
