This identifies the bilinear form of the posterior covariance with a second cumulant.

Let μ\muμ be a compactly supported probability measure on Rn\mathbb{R}^nRn, let ppp be a localization parameter, and let x,y∈Rnx,y\in\mathbb{R}^nx,y∈Rn. If A(p)=cov⁡(μ,p)A(p)=\operatorname{cov}(\mu,p)A(p)=cov(μ,p) and μp\mu_pμp is the compact posterior, then

⟨A(p)x,y⟩=κ2(μp)(x,y).\langle A(p)x,y\rangle =\kappa_2(\mu_p)(x,y).⟨A(p)x,y⟩=κ2(μp)(x,y).

The two-vector argument is represented formally by ![x, y]. This is a reusable identification of covariance entries with cumulant data.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
