This formalizes the first energy-drop estimate associated with Lemma 3.9 of Bizeul–Klartag–Lehec.

Let VVV be a finite-dimensional real inner-product space, let ν\nuν be a log-concave probability measure with nonempty support interior, and let mmm be an additive Haar measure. Assume all exponential moments of ν\nuν are integrable. Assume also the covariance-type bound

∫⟨v,x⟩2 dν(x)≤∥v∥2(v∈V).\int \langle v,x\rangle^2\,d\nu(x)\le\|v\|^2\qquad(v\in V).∫⟨v,x⟩2dν(x)≤∥v∥2(v∈V).

Let u∈L2(ν)u\in L^2(\nu)u∈L2(ν) belong to the domain of the adjoint composition of the closed weighted gradient. Then

∑j(mean⁡ν(∂ju))2≤∥gen⁡(u)∥2,\sum_j\left(\operatorname{mean}_\nu(\partial_j u)\right)^2 \le \|\operatorname{gen}(u)\|^2,j∑(meanν(∂ju))2≤∥gen(u)∥2,

where the sum is over an orthonormal basis, partialDeriv denotes the coordinate derivative of the closed gradient, and gen denotes the generator.

The estimate controls the squared mean gradient by the generator energy and is used as the initial energy inequality in the Poisson-iterate argument.

Formalization Note. The domain condition is an exact domain-membership hypothesis in L2(ν)L^2(\nu)L2(ν); the displayed sum is a finite-dimensional coordinate sum.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
