This is a pointwise finite-dimensional estimate for the scalar Laplacian.

Let EEE be a finite-dimensional real inner-product space, let g:E→Rg:E\to\mathbb Rg:E→R be any function, and let x∈Ex\in Ex∈E. No differentiability or completeness hypothesis on ggg is assumed.

∣Δg(x)∣≤dim⁡(E) ∥D2g(x)∥.|\Delta g(x)|\leq \dim(E)\,\|D^2g(x)\|.∣Δg(x)∣≤dim(E)∥D2g(x)∥.

Here D2g(x)D^2g(x)D2g(x) is represented by iteratedFDeriv ℝ 2 g x, and dim⁡(E)\dim(E)dim(E) is the real vector-space dimension. The estimate is obtained using the fixed standard orthonormal basis and is valid also in dimension zero.

Formalization Note The norm and inequality are real-valued; no measure-theoretic assumptions occur.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
