This is the fully local version of the weak product rule. It is listed as a partial formalization of Theorem 2.5 of Letwin (arXiv:2607.24164v1).

Let n∈Nn\in\mathbb{N}n∈N, let f,df,g,dg:EuclideanSpace R (Fin n)→Rf,df,g,dg:\mathrm{EuclideanSpace}\,\mathbb{R}\,(\mathrm{Fin}\,n)\to\mathbb{R}f,df,g,dg:EuclideanSpaceR(Finn)→R, and let vvv be a vector. Assume:

  1. fff has weak derivative dfdfdf along vvv, and ggg has weak derivative dgdgdg along vvv.
  2. For every compact SSS, f,g∈L∞(volume⁡∣S)f,g\in L^\infty(\operatorname{volume}|_S)f,g∈L∞(volume∣S).
  3. For every compact SSS, df,dg∈L2(volume⁡∣S)df,dg\in L^2(\operatorname{volume}|_S)df,dg∈L2(volume∣S).

Then fgfgfg has weak derivative

x↦df(x)g(x)+f(x)dg(x),x\mapsto df(x)g(x)+f(x)dg(x),x↦df(x)g(x)+f(x)dg(x),

and this derivative belongs to L2(volume⁡∣S)L^2(\operatorname{volume}|_S)L2(volume∣S) for every compact SSS. No global boundedness or classical C1C^1C1 regularity is assumed.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
