This is a compact-support weak integration-by-parts identity for two directional derivatives of the same scalar function.

Let fff have weak derivatives ppp and qqq along directions vvv and www, respectively, with ppp and qqq locally in L2L^2L2. Let η\etaη have weak derivatives aaa and bbb along vvv and www, respectively. Assume η,a,b\eta,a,bη,a,b have compact support and a,ba,ba,b are globally in L2L^2L2. Then

∫p(x)b(x) dx=∫q(x)a(x) dx.\int p(x)b(x)\,dx=\int q(x)a(x)\,dx.∫p(x)b(x)dx=∫q(x)a(x)dx.

The identity is valid in every finite dimension, including dimension zero, and is a supporting rough-testing statement.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
