This is a coercivity-support statement for moment potentials.

Let EEE be finite-dimensional with a real inner product and Borel measurable structure, and let μ\muμ be a finite measure. Assume that 000 lies in the interior of the convex hull of supp⁡(μ)\operatorname{supp}(\mu)supp(μ). Then there exist constants c,C>0c,C>0c,C>0 such that every ϕ:E→R‾\phi:E\to\overline{\mathbb R}ϕ:E→R satisfying

  1. ϕ≥0\phi\ge0ϕ≥0 pointwise;
  2. ϕ(0)=0\phi(0)=0ϕ(0)=0;
  3. ConvexPotential φ;
  4. PotentialIntegrable φ μ;

has, for every y∈Ey\in Ey∈E,

0≤ϕ∗(y)andc∥y∥−C∫Eϕ(x).toReal⁡ dμ(x)≤ϕ∗(y).0\le\phi^*(y)\quad\text{and}\quad c\|y\|-C\int_E\phi(x).\operatorname{toReal}\,d\mu(x)\le\phi^*(y).0≤ϕ∗(y)andc∥y∥−C∫Eϕ(x).toRealdμ(x)≤ϕ∗(y).

The constants are chosen independently of the particular potential and provide a uniform linear lower bound for its Legendre transform.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
