This statement computes the moments of the scalar suspension coordinate used in Proposition 7.1 of Bizeul–Klartag–Lehec (arXiv:2610.05474v1), p. 28.

Let N>0N>0N>0, let μ\muμ be a probability measure on Rn\mathbb R^nRn, and let f∈L2(μ)f\in L^2(\mu)f∈L2(μ) satisfy

∫f dμ=0,∫f2 dμ=1.\int f\,d\mu=0,\qquad \int f^2\,d\mu=1.∫fdμ=0,∫f2dμ=1.

Let β>0\beta>0β>0, and let η\etaη have the Laplace measure of parameter β\betaβ, with

∫η dη=0,∫η2 dη=2β2.\int\eta\,d\eta=0,\qquad \int\eta^2\,d\eta=\frac{2}{\beta^2}.∫ηdη=0,∫η2dη=β22.

Assume the stated integrability conditions. For independent copies xix_ixi and η\etaη, define

S=N−1/2∑if(xi)+ησβ,σβ=1+2/β2.S=\frac{N^{-1/2}\sum_i f(x_i)+\eta}{\sigma_\beta}, \qquad \sigma_\beta=\sqrt{1+2/\beta^2}.S=σβN−1/2∑if(xi)+η,σβ=1+2/β2.

Then S∈L2S\in L^2S∈L2, and under the product of the copy measure and the Laplace measure,

∫S=0,∫S2=1.\int S=0,\qquad \int S^2=1.∫S=0,∫S2=1.

This supplies the centered, unit-variance scalar coordinate required for isotropy of the suspension law.

Formalization Note. The declaration treats the Laplace probability instance and its first- and second-moment hypotheses as explicit assumptions.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
