This proves optional stopping for a stopping time whose values below the horizon form a finite set.

Let (Ω,A,P)(\Omega,\mathcal A,P)(Ω,A,P) be a probability space, let τ:Ω→WithTop⁡(R)\tau:\Omega\to\operatorname{WithTop}(\mathbb R)τ:Ω→WithTop(R) be an F\mathcal FF-stopping time, and let WWW and F\mathcal FF form a Brownian motion and Brownian filtration. Let HHH be jointly measurable and progressively measurable, with

∫Ω∫[0,T]∥H(ω,s)∥+2 ds dP<⊤\int_\Omega\int_{[0,T]}\|H(\omega,s)\|_+^2\,ds\,dP<\top∫Ω∫[0,T]∥H(ω,s)∥+2dsdP<⊤

for every T>0T>0T>0. Fix t>0t>0t>0 and a finite set J⊂RJ\subset\mathbb RJ⊂R such that every c∈Jc\in Jc∈J satisfies 0≤c0\le c0≤c and c<tc<tc<t, and assume that for every ω\omegaω either τ(ω)=c\tau(\omega)=cτ(ω)=c for some c∈Jc\in Jc∈J or t≤τ(ω)t\le\tau(\omega)t≤τ(ω).

Then, PPP-almost everywhere,

It[stopped⁡(τ,H)](ω)=It[H](ω)−∑c∈JhitInd⁡(τ,c,ω)(It[H](ω)−Ic[H](ω)).I_t[\operatorname{stopped}(\tau,H)](\omega) = I_t[H](\omega) -\sum_{c\in J}\operatorname{hitInd}(\tau,c,\omega)\bigl(I_t[H](\omega)-I_c[H](\omega)\bigr).It[stopped(τ,H)](ω)=It[H](ω)−c∈J∑hitInd(τ,c,ω)(It[H](ω)−Ic[H](ω)).

The stopped integrand is equipped with the measurability, progressive-measurability, and finite-energy witnesses generated from the hypotheses.

This is the finite-range identity from which the general local property is obtained by approximation.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
