This auxiliary lemma gives a quantitative cutoff estimate for a closed weighted-gradient domain.

Let VVV be finite-dimensional and complete, let mmm be an additive Haar measure, let ν\nuν be log-concave with nonempty interior support, and let U∈C1(V)U\in C^1(V)U∈C1(V) satisfy ν=m.tilted⁡(−U)\nu=m.\operatorname{tilted}(-U)ν=m.tilted(−U). Let u∈L2(ν)u\in L^2(\nu)u∈L2(ν) satisfy:

  1. For every smooth compactly supported fff, the pairing of uuu with (A+1)f(A+1)f(A+1)f is zero, where A=T‾†T‾A=\overline{T}^{\dagger}\overline{T}A=T†T is represented by adjointComp.
  2. For every smooth compactly supported multiplier χ\chiχ, the class χu\chi uχu belongs to D(T‾)D(\overline{T})D(T).

If r>0r>0r>0, M≥0M\ge0M≥0, and the cutoff satisfies ∥∇χr(y)∥≤M/r\|\nabla\chi_r(y)\|\le M/r∥∇χr(y)∥≤M/r for all yyy, then

∥[χru]∥L2(ν)≤Mr ∥u∥L2(ν).\|[\chi_r u]\|_{L^2(\nu)}\le \frac{M}{r}\,\|u\|_{L^2(\nu)}.∥[χru]∥L2(ν)≤rM∥u∥L2(ν).

The cutoff family and the domain are represented by cutoff, toLp, and closedWeightedOperator. This is a technical estimate used to pass from local domain membership to global vanishing.
