Let VVV be a finite-dimensional real inner-product space with the stated complete, measurable, Borel, and second-countable structures. Let ν\nuν be a log-concave probability measure on VVV, let mmm be an additive Haar measure, and assume that the interior of the support of ν\nuν is nonempty. Let U:V→RU:V\to\mathbb RU:V→R have temperate growth, assume

ν=m.tilted⁡(−U),\nu=m.\operatorname{tilted}(-U),ν=m.tilted(−U),

and assume that every exponential moment ∫er∥x∥ dν(x)\int e^{r\|x\|}\,d\nu(x)∫er∥x∥dν(x) is integrable. Let CCC be a nonnegative-real parameter satisfying CP(ν)≤CC_P(\nu)\le CCP(ν)≤C and 0<C0<C0<C.

Assume the Taylor bound that, for every u∈L2(ν)u\in L^2(\nu)u∈L2(ν) and every integer d≥1d\ge1d≥1,

∥Tdu∥≤Rd∥u∥,\|T_d u\|\le R^d\|u\|,∥Tdu∥≤Rd∥u∥,

where taylorField and the coordinate tensor are taken in the standard orthonormal basis. Let f∈L2(ν)f\in L^2(\nu)f∈L2(ν) lie in the domain of the adjoint composition of the closed weighted gradient. For integers k,dk,dk,d, assume d≥1d\ge1d≥1, 2d≤k+12d\le k+12d≤k+1, and, for every j<kj<kj<k,

0<αjandαj2≤βC,0<\alpha_j\quad\text{and}\quad \alpha_j^2\le\frac{\beta}{C},0<αjandαj2≤Cβ,

where αj\alpha_jαj is the corresponding scale of the Poisson iterate.

Then, with defect denoting the iterate defect,

∥Td(∇0hk+1)∥2≤(220max⁡(1,β)2C)d∥T2d(∇0hk+1−d)∥2+(220max⁡(1,β)2)dR2dC∑j∈[k+1−2d,k)χj+1.\begin{aligned} \|T_d(\nabla_0 h_{k+1})\|^2 &\le \left(\frac{2^{20}\max(1,\beta)^2}{C}\right)^d \|T_{2d}(\nabla_0 h_{k+1-d})\|^2\\ &\quad +(2^{20}\max(1,\beta)^2)^d R^{2d}C \sum_{j\in[k+1-2d,k)}\chi_{j+1}. \end{aligned}∥Td(∇0hk+1)∥2≤(C220max(1,β)2)d∥T2d(∇0hk+1−d)∥2+(220max(1,β)2)dR2dCj∈[k+1−2d,k)∑χj+1.

This is a technical recursive estimate used to control Taylor fields of Poisson iterates and to feed the later Taylor-coefficient criterion. The explicit constant is part of the statement, rather than an unspecified universal constant.

Formalization Note. The Poincaré constant is compared with the coercion of a NNReal into R\mathbb RR; the displayed inequalities are real-valued. The sum is over Finset.Ico, and the indices and iterates are those represented by taylorField, grad0, iter, scale, and defect.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
