Let u,F:Rn→Ru,F:\mathbb{R}^n\to\mathbb{R}u,F:Rn→R, let ∇u\nabla u∇u be Lipschitz, let FFF be Lipschitz, and assume that almost everywhere the Hessian HuH_uHu is positive definite and

log⁡det⁡Hu=F.\log\det H_u=F.logdetHu=F.

Suppose a tensor TTT gives locally L2L^2L2 weak directional derivatives of the entries of HuH_uHu. Then, for every coordinate direction eke_kek and indices i,ji,ji,j, the inverse Hessian has weak derivative

∂k(Hu−1)ij=−(Hu−1TkHu−1)ij,\partial_k(H_u^{-1})_{ij} =-\bigl(H_u^{-1}T_kH_u^{-1}\bigr)_{ij},∂k(Hu−1)ij=−(Hu−1TkHu−1)ij,

and this derivative is locally in L2L^2L2 on compact sets. The inverse-Hessian entries themselves are locally in L∞L^{\infty}L∞ on compact sets. This is a weak calculus statement and does not assume C2C^2C2 regularity.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
